ATTENTION PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE NYC METRO AREA OR KNOW PEOPLE WHO DO:

The short version: yesterday we were visited by an inspector (who did not perform an inspection yet, he will be returning with the landlord) who informed us that they’d received a complaint and that our basement apartment was an illegal conversion, which means we can no longer live here. Once the inspection occurs (at a time yet to be determined), if the apartment is declared to be a hazard we would have to leave IMMEDIATELY. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, no 30-day window, this is not a tenant’s rights thing so much as it is a human safety thing. We can keep our stuff here and come and go to retrieve it, but we cannot inhabit the apartment.

Now in the fairly likely event that this occurs, we would need a place to stay while we look for a new place. My friend Vikki has graciously stepped up to cover the first 4 nights, but can’t stretch beyond that because she lives directly above her landlord.

There are three of us, though we don’t necessarily have to stay together.

Myself, late-20s lady who works part time in the East Village at Big Gay Ice Cream

Rennie, early-20s chick who is a freelance artist (if you’re a Homestuck you may have seen some of her work, scroll down to ‘Noelstuck’)

my brother PT, mid-20s dude who works at a tech startup doing lord knows what, he is a gamer

We are all extremely laid-back, don’t mind what hours you keep, have weird senses of humor but know how to behave like adults too, no known pet allergies, etc

We currently are located in Astoria but can relocate pretty much anywhere in the NY metro area as long as my bro and I can still reasonably get to and from work. As stated previously, if you only have room for 1 or 2 we can work with that as well, my brother has some WoW guildies around town that he’s checking with now.

So if you could send an e-mail to broadsquadgo at gmail letting us know if you’d be able to help, where you’re at, how many you’d be able to put up and how long that would be SUPER GREAT

We’re not sure of the timeline just yet, it could happen today or tomorrow or the next day or not at all. I’d just like to be prepared.
